The First Presidency has released commentary regarding priesthood morality in response to a referral from the 2016 World Conference.  The commentary is based in the Enduring Principles, which help define the character and identity of our church.  This discussion will help Central Mission Center members explore and understand the Commentary on Principles.  The same facilitating program will be presented on each date.

  • September 9 Save the Date! Evangelist Gathering for all Central USA Mission Field evangelists in the Temple in Independence from 1:00pm-5:00pm. This event will be focused on Guidelines for Evangelist Blessings and Intentional prayer for the church. Presented by Jane Gardner and Janné Grover. Further details will be provided closer to the event.
  • November 4 Women of Central Mission DAY RETREAT. Theme: Loving God's Abundant Life. We are testing an event website for this retreat. Go check it out at https://womenofcentralmiss.wixsite.com/wocm. More information coming soon, so mark your calendars!
  • Center Place Singers is now auditioning for the coming season. Upper high school and young adults who have some ability to read music, are available Monday nights and one Sunday a month and have the desire to be a part of this needed and rich ministry, please contact Paulette Votava Resch at 816-225-4101 to set up an audition time. All auditions will be held at Stone Church (1012 W Lexington, Independence) in the choir room.

  • Ministry and Priesthood Courses August 10, 17, 24, 31: Ministry of the High Priest, this course is a prerequisite for ordination. Course schedule is from 6:30pm-9:00pm.   • June 28, Wednesday, and continuing through the summer each Wednesday CHAIR YOGA class at Good Shepherd congregation (4341 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City) from 9:30am-10:30am, led by Margaret French.   • July 2-5 The Girl Scouts Fundraising Sale to send girls to camp and activities. Location: South Chrysler congregation (3100 South Chrysler, Independence). July 2 from Noon - 5:00 pm, July 3rd - 5th from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Contributions to the sale are welcomed. 
  • ·   July 12-15 Tag Sale at Colonial Hills congregation (3539 S 7 Highway, Blue Springs).  Linens, furniture, glassware, plastic ware, tons of kid’s clothes, all adult and youth clothes will be hanging up.  Donations are welcomed.  Proceeds go to help our youth and their friends with the costs of attending summer camp.  Questions?  Call Lisa Freberg (816-590-7009).
  • ·   July 12 and every Wednesday following a free Balance and Stability class provided by Anne Pazder, an AARP Health Promotion Specialist (HPS),  will be held in the gym at South Crysler congregation (3100 S Crysler, Independence) from 10:00am-11:00am. Participants will practice a series of balance exercises designed to strengthen the entire body to prevent falls. Class is opened to all adults and no membership required.  Wear comfy clothes and sneakers.

 COMMUNITY

  • July 8 or July 15 Volleyball Players – Any boy or girl from 10 to 18 years old interested in playing competitive volleyball is invited to attend our ATTACK Club Volleyball Tryouts. 10-14 year olds tryout from 9:00am-10:30am; 15-18 year olds tryout from 10:30am-12:00pm. All tryouts are at Family Life Center 500 W Pacific). $10 tryout fee. Other tryouts on July 8th and 15th – same times.
  • August 25-26 "The Body, Mind, Spirit Connection" is the focus for this years Health & Spirituality Workshop at the Temple. The Friday evening keynote address will be brought by Helen "Jody" Hueschen, RN, MN, President of the Kansas City Chapter of the American Holistic Nurses' Association. A reception will follow. Saturday's workshop will include sessions on holistic nursing, body/mind medicine, art therapy, and more. Certificates of Attendance will be available.
