Summer Activity Staff Position

The Lake Doniphan Leadership Program provides participants with an opportunity to develop interpersonal, professional and life skills in a unique camp setting. Leadership Program participants will learn and work in multiple areas of camp, conference, and retreat management. The assignment will vary each day and week, depending on the needs of the camp, and the skills of the participant. Training, certification, and responsibility will focus on three areas Activities, Administration/ Hospitality and Water Safety. Specific responsibilities may include lifeguard, waterfront, sports, office and guest support, pool management, archery instruction, small watercraft instruction, leading games/activities, sanitary/safety requirements, etc. Participants may reside at the campgrounds in provided housing and meals are provided when events are occurring.

Day Camp Counselor Position

Counselors will work directly with the campers each day, actively participating in games/sports/activities with the campers while monitoring and supervising them, leading by example and using appropriate discipline techniques when required. This position is responsible for helping to maintain a safe, clean summer program site; ensuring a high level of program quality; and working to establish a positive impact with all campers and their families. The Counselor is a positive role model to campers. Counselors must be a highly organized, service-oriented with high energy, self motivation, and enthusiasm.

Peace Pavilion- Docent

This part-time position will interact and guide children, adults, teachers, other visitors, and others to promote peaceful learning concepts presented in the exhibits areas - Peace for Me, Peace for Us, Peace for Everyone, and Peace for the Planet.

Volunteer Staff at Peace Pavilion

The Pavilion will be opened Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteer opportunities are available in 4 to 8 hour blocks. Positions available for service include
• Docent – guiding individuals and groups through the exhibit areas of Peace for Me, Peace for Us, Peace for Everyone, and Peace for the Planet.
• Greeting and front desk – greet, answer questions, answer the phone, and sell tickets.
• Building Support/Events Support – assist in the maintenance and cleaning of the facility as needed; support event rentals through set-up, presence at the event, and clean-up.
