President’s Challenge:

Awaken to God’s Invitation

April 2 at 6 p.m. (CDT)

President Stephen M. Veazey will focus on moving the church forward in Christ’s mission during a live webcast to the church.

The challenge portion of President Veazey's message will be posted online on Friday, March 24. This will give people an opportunity to view it before the live Q&A on April 2.

The evening will feature updated and more dependable technology so individuals and congregations will have clear, seamless viewing.

DEVELOP DISCIPLES TO SERVE

EXPERIENCE CONGREGATIONS IN MISSION

  • Every day through April 4 of the Lenten season there will be opportunity provided from 11:00am-12:30pm for personal devotion in the Stone Church congregation sanctuary (1012 W. Lexington, Independence) ending with a Good Friday service on April 4.
  • March 14 and each Tuesday Book of Mormon class at South Crysler congregation (3100 S Crysler, Independence) from 9:30am-10:30am. Facilitator: Karen Moreland. For more info, contact Karen Moreland (816-358-0487).
  • March 18 BSA Cub Scout Pack 802 invites all to attend their Annual Chili and Chili Dog Dinner and Bake Sale from 11:00am-3:30pm. Cost is $6 each. Come in the basement door of the Buckner congregation (1001 S Sibley Street, Buckner).
  • April 1 Free Spring Spectacular with The Easter Bunny at Colonial Hills congregation (3539 S 7 Hiway, Blue Springs) from 11:00am-2:00pm. Free hot dog lunch. Have your photo taken with the Easter Bunny ($1 or bring your own camera)! Enjoy carnival games, face painting, crafts and a family egg hunt (all morning rain or shine).   • April 8 Easter Eggstravaganza at Beacon Heights congregation (19402 E Holke Rd., Independence) from 9:00am-11:30am. Free activities include East egg hunt inside on every half hour, visit from a Bunny for pictures, free pictures by our photographer and creating a craft frame, face-painting, and more. YOUTH

  • April 5 and the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month is Elevate! at Colonial Hills congregation (3539 S MO 7 Highway, Blue Springs) from 6:45pm-8:30pm for all youth grades 8th – 12th. Please join us for snacks, games, prizes, discussion, personal growth, special guest speakers and fellowship. Have questions?   • All children and youth are welcome to participate in the youth ministry events at Colonial Hills congregation (3539 S MO 7 Highway, Blue Springs). Go to www.colonial-hills.org for calendars of events for Play Group (babies-Pre-K), Community Kid’s Club (K-5th) and Youth Group (6th-12th). It is great to be part of Community!

VOLUNTEER

  • Volunteer to be a Session chaplain for the Community of Christ Scouting Committee at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. This is a great volunteer opportunity to get more involved in a program to help out our youth, get back into Scouting or just have a fun adventure this summer where you can be outside and impact the spiritual life of young men.   • Central Mission is seeking fully licensed nurses, physician assistants, paramedics, EMTs and Medical doctors to provide their skills and ministry for Middle and Junior school camps this summer. These are volunteer positions that would require you to stay overnight at Lake Doniphan for the duration of camp. Middle School Camp dates are July 11-16 and Junior Camp dates are July 17-21. Please note that your license must be up to date and for the state of Missouri. You would also be required to attend one training session prior to the start of camp.
